Blog For The Forum

Hi Everyone, I took the liberty to start a blog for the forum. Over the next few weeks or months – we’ll see if this blog will blossom into a good “utility or not”. To kick things off, here is an interesting article that came into my mail box today. One can actually sign up for the Psoriasis Association in USA and they will email you such updates. I had also been receiving snail mail from them for a year (until I did not renew my donation…). How good is that? Below is the email newsletter article extract:

Making progress!
Top five advances in psoriasis research in 2008

Exciting developments in research occurred over the past year that could dramatically change the future of psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. Here are five of the most promising findings that could lead to improved treatments, find the cause of or even lead to a cure for these diseases. To learn more about psoriasis research, visit

  1. Two newly developed drugs effectively suppress psoriasis. The drugs aren’t available yet, but are on the road to approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
  2. Psoriasis lesions are loaded with a type of cell that damages tissue. The Psoriasis Foundation supported the work of the researcher who studied these cells, called T helper 17 (or TH17) cells. The study may lead to new treatments.
  3. Researchers have discovered new genetic links to psoriasis. The work of these researchers, which has received Psoriasis Foundation support, could lead to treatments that dramatically help people living with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis.
  4. Small RNA molecules may play an important role in the development of psoriasis. These molecules control how the body produces proteins that make cells function. Further study of these molecules could lead to effective psoriasis therapies.
  5. A naturally occurring antibiotic in the skin may help trigger psoriasis. This antibiotic, called LL37, is providing a new avenue for psoriasis treatments.

  1. Hi,

I found this item on petalingstreet today.

I am thinking of joining the programme, but I prefer to do it if I know for certain others are also joining.
